Mission Statement of the All-Faiths Peace Conference
The All-Faiths Peace Conference is concerned with the inequality found in the areas of housing, healthcare, and the conditions of working people. The All-Faiths Peace Conference unites all religions against war, racism, imperialism and fascism.
Acting on our religious convictions and on our common religious humanism, we have joined the peace and anti-imperialist movement. All religions teach that life is a gift from above to the human species. To defend it, to uphold the right of people to life, we are prepared to cooperate with all forces, regardless of their ideology and world view.
We seek to continue the work of many in the faith-based movement who have fought for world peace and social justice. From the anti-fascist movements of Europe came the heroic people of faith who gave their lives to fight German, Italian, and Spanish fascism in the streets. Today, in Latin America, the struggle against oligarchy, colonialism, and imperialism is continuing to be waged by followers of liberation theology. From the abolitionists who fought against slavery, to the participants of the 1960’s Civil Rights movement, progressive religious people were united to combat racial segregation.
